I was going to start this out as "back on track," but given my Runner's World training schedule for a 10K, I'm not even up to the mileage yet. So I'm just getting back out on the road and putting down miles. Whatever ... it's my first official 10K, so it's an instant PR. Makes the next one an easier goal, right?
It does feel good to be back on the road. Athsma is all cleared up and no more issues there. I just want to be able to survive the 6.2 miles in a respectable kind of way. I guess time-wise, my goal is around 50 minutes, but as non-competitive as I am, it's not going to bother me if I don't make it. Based on my 4 mile Saturday run, my biggest concern is blisters on my feet. Apparently I got over that one quickly, so maybe if I just wear the right socks for my long runs, I'll be ok.
The biggest problem so far is trying to keep my running from ruining the rest of my life. Basic things like trying to spend time with my wife, helping out around the house, or getting enough sleep. So far, sleep is losing out, but hopefully with school letting out I won't have to get up so doggone early just to be able to be back to wake the kids.
So the mileage count goes as follows: last week = 7.22 miles; this week = just trying to run three days! Off to a roaring start with just over 3 miles in one run.
More to come ....
