Oh my gosh! My first "real" tempo run ... Ok, last year I was actually running some sustained 3 mile runs at a faster pace, but this is the first time I really felt I was pushing myself into that comfortably hard zone. Gee, talk about zoning ... my first mile warm up got cut short because I didn't follow the pre-assigned route. Guess that's what happens when you run too early in the morning! Then the tempo itself. What can I say? It was hard and I pushed myself. But hey, I maintained an average pace under 8 minutes per mile. And I'm still alive!
The big test is to see if I can make myself run 7 miles on Saturday. I'll definitely follow the prescribed 10 min/mile pace. I just need to find that hour to spend. I may end up doing it to the chagrin of my family. Is it really worth it? But only a week before my first official 10k ....
