Ok, so I don't know how to count! Now 7 weeks to go

Well, I guess when I counted 9 weeks to go, I was counting from the beginning of the training week. But as of TODAY, there are exactly 7 weeks to go before the 500 Festival Mini Marathon. So to keep from confusing myself, I'll go with this way of counting.

This turned out to be a good week. Despite the switch to daylight saving time, I started waking earlier and running before breakfast like before. Monday promised a chance at Filipino food for lunch, so I got up early and walked the dog first then ran an easy 3 miles. It was 39 degrees out and a bit windy with a 20MPH wind from the WNW. Ran the 3 mile loop around the neighborhood. It brought back a lot of memories of running early mornings in the dark last year.

Miles = 3.22; Time = 27:44; Pace = 8:37

Tuesday, I ended up waking early again! Two days in a row! And today promised to be the hard workout: a 4 mile tempo run. Ran the dog first, and probably should have used that as my warm up. Oh well! The amazing thing about the actual run was that my warm up and cool down runs ended up exactly the same mileage and exactly the same time! How amazing is that! As hard as it is to wake up early and get going, it does feel pretty good afterward. Well, exept maybe during the afternoon!

Warm up: Miles = 1.32; Time = 13:11; Pace = 9:58; Temp = 46 degrees
Tempo: Miles = 4.05; Time = 31:26; Pace = 7:45; Wind = 15 MPH, SE
Cool down: Miles = 1.32; Time = 13:11; Pace = 9:58; run around neighborhood

Thursday, I did not wake up early! Ha! Of course, it seems like it has been a while for me to run such a "short distance" during lunch at work. Anyway, it was nice having the extra time after the run to change and take care of lunch before the lunch hour was actually over.

Miles = 3.03; Time = 26:04; Pace = 8:36; run down to Kyle Park and back on bike trail; Temp = 29 degrees (not really too cold); Wind = 10 MPH, NNE

Saturday, took the dog out first. He's really getting in shape, because he ended up running almost 3 miles (2.9 to be exact) at a 10:00 minute per mile pace! And that includes his potty breaks, so you can imagine how fast he can sprint! Anyway, that was impressive for him. Despite the extended warm up with the dog, I went ahead and ran the 8 miles I had planned. Maybe that's why my feet have some blisters. Yeah, not so good. Well, I'll take it easy on them and see how they do. It was a good run, and hopefully I didn't make it too long by piggybacking the dog run. Oh, and I got to explore the Hobart Urban Nature Preserve, and it is pretty cool.

Miles = 8.06; Time = 1:11:34; Pace = 8:52; run to nature preserve and around, then downtown and back; Temp = started at 41 and ended at 45; Wind = 7 MPH, E; kind of cloudy out

Total mileage for week = 23.9! Not a bad week! And I was looking up information about the Half Marathon and got myself all excited. Less than two months away! I'll just keep plodding on ...
