3/6 - 8 Mile Run Around Gallipolis

Well, running seems to give a good perspective of things, like say the size difference between the town you live in now versus the one you grew up in. Of course I already knew about the size difference, but running it made it so obvious. For instance, an 8 mile run in Troy means running from my house out to Main Street, then taking Main Street east through town until I get to the square. That's about 4 miles, so turn around at the square and run home for a total of 8 miles. Today in Gallipolis, I started out on McCormick Road and ran on the bike trail into town. That was about 2 miles. From that central location in town, I ran down 4th Avenue all the way to Vine Street, turned onto 3rd Avenue and ran all the way past Sycamore to the ball fields after 1st Baptist Church. Turned around in the field and back onto 4th Street back to the bike trail. That came to a total of 6 miles. So back out the bike trail to the car. Whew!

It was really nice out today. Lots of sun and the temperature was 48 degrees with a NNE wind of 5 mph. I ran in shorts and a long sleeve shirt. I probably could have gotten by with a short sleeve shirt, but then all those people out walking wearing coats and gloves might have thought I was nuts. Ok, they probably thought I was nuts anyway! It was interesting to see how much had changed in town. Guess I had been away for a while!

Total Distance - 8.34 mi; Time - 1:14:00; Pace - 8:52
