Ok, I can't just start back without saying something about the hiatus. What can I say? I seem to have this thing about dropping off the face of the planet with regard to running updates after the BIG event, which for the past two years has been the 500 Festival One America Mini Marathon (did I get all the names in?) Similarly, not only do I stop blogging, but my running motivation goes seriously down the tubes. I'm doing better this year since I started the mileage club at work, but so far this has been my down month. We'll have to see if I can kick it back into gear here soon. I'm ok because I've built up enough miles behind me, but I know that I can easily slip back and miss my overall goal.
2 things going for me: the mileage tracking club at work and the fact that I re-joined the ORRRC with an intent to race each month.
Ok, the real reason for this post. Planned to run at 6:30am, but didn't get up until 7. So I ran around 8 - 8:15ish. It started out at 65 degrees and calm, but it was extremely humid and probably got at least to 70, maybe even up to 75 by the time I finished. Ran from mom and dad's house down Mt Vernon to Ordinance and back, then followed the 5K River Run "trail" to downtown. Stopped at the Point for a break after running 30 minutes at a distance of about 3.4 miles. Took pictures of the bridges with my phone then picked up the run again, this time behind the floodwall. Stayed on the path all the way to the end of the floodwall (or just its opening) and then back to mom & dad's neighborhood. Ran back down Mt Vernon to Ordinance, but got chased by a dog at the end (ok, just semi-chased). Took a loop around to Jefferson by a block to avoid the mad dog, then back to the house. That ended up to be 3.6 miles in 35 minutes. Very sweaty at the end. Took quite a while to cool down.
Time - 30:47 Distance - 3.43 mi Pace - 8:58
Time - 34:46 Distance - 3.60 mi Pace - 9:39
