Easy run ... adding up the miles

Today was a 2 mile easy run. Ran 2.17 miles in 20:28 for an average pace of 9:31 ... faster than the "recommended" easy pace, but seems to be about my average easy pace. I'm still not so good at figuring out my pace or being able to maintain it. Well, maybe I'm getting better, but I'm also using my Time+Distance watch to monitor it. All in all, a rather uneventful run with an observation.

Once again I have run without tunes. I should experiment and actually use my MP3 player for the next run. So far, I have not used my music for any races even though I've seen several people using them. I guess I've managed to avoid any "no-music-allowed" races so far. But last year as I was running during my lunch breaks I pretty regularly used my tunes unless I was running with Corey or Paul (my running buddies from Crown). I can try using it on Saturday if I remember just to see if it affects my pace.

And I have added readers to this blog. Welcome, my family! I guess I'm thinking that if anyone else is actually reading this, it could potentially motivate me to keep on going, so that I won't get an email saying "where is your running update? You aren't skipping a run, are you?" Of course, I could just end up boring all of you to death, and then I don't have to worry about being embarrassed in front of you, huh? Just remember, I'm an engineer, not one of these English majors with an emphasis on writing (ok, that was for Glynis & Priscilla).

By the way, as a bit of a preview, the next scheduled run is a "long run" on Saturday. But I've been considering that since I ran over 6 miles on Sunday, maybe I could get away with running only about 4 or 5 miles instead of the scheduled 7. Don't want to increase mileage too quickly, huh? And one of these days in the next couple of weeks, I probably should look into how I could splurge and get new shoes. Well, I guess they are just at over 300 miles. I'll have to see how that works out.
