Speedwork

Wow, what a workout this morning! My first try at speedwork. It would be nice if we actually had a track that I could run on, but at least the neighborhood has a block that I can run around. This was supposed to be a 3x 800 @4:04 with 400 jogs. Of course, this was all figured out using my guesstimate at my 10K time. Now that I know my actual time, I can't quite figure out what I guessed to get the same thing! Well, at least I have a plan. Assuming the the "800" and "400" are in meters, I took the next closest guess and ended up at 0.54 mile or 869 meters. Results: first 800 in 3:55, second and third in 3:51. Amazingly consistent! My jogs ended up at 450 and 499, but they were just moments to catch my breath.

The true results? Well, it was a nice cool morning to run! But definitely speedwork is hard work. I surprised myself by being able to keep a steady fast pace. But I definitely DIED on my jogs! I guess that is why they are there. My feet kind of hurt again, but I'm already over that. I'm pretty sure that I need to look into new shoes. But who can afford them at this time? I'll have to discuss that with the boss ....
