late late observations

Here are a few thoughts on this late late update:

1. I don't get onto the computer during weekends. I thought about it a couple of times. I did actually get online for a little bit, but not for long enough to post an update here. I got up semi-early on Saturday and walked Charlie. It was pretty nice out and the sun was quite bright (we're not used to walking in the daylight!) So after I dropped him back off at the house, I got my sunglasses and took off for a 6 mile long run. Yes, I know that two weeks ago my long run was 7 miles, but this is a new training schedule, and I'm following it to a T! Of course, with the exception of the easy runs on Mondays, but that's another story. Anyway, ran 6.16 miles in 54:37, for a pace of 8:52 (made it under the recommended 9:22). But while I was running, it got cloudy, and near the end I thought that I was feeling some drizzles of rain. I was beginning to wonder if it was always going to rain during my weekend runs, but it actually didn't start until after I was finished.

2. I have now successfully maintained my goal of 20 miles minimum per week for the past 8 weeks in a row. That's pretty good. And last month's accumulation acheived my other goal of making 100 miles in a month. Hopefully that can carry over to this month as well. Everything seems to be on track. The walks between runs will help with making the mileage.

3. Monday (yesterday) I ran an easy run of 3.09 miles in 26:08, for a pace of 8:26. The 3 miles is one mile more than the training recommended 2 miles, and the pace is quicker than 9:22 as well. Can't hurt, can it?

4. Getting up at 4am just to walk the dog and run is pretty insane. But that's me. I must really like this running stuff. I know that I do enjoy it, and I am pretty conscious about this NOT interfering with the rest of my life. I'm pretty busy when everyone else is awake, so I run when they're all asleep.

Speedwork tomorrow! We'll have to see how that works out, because the new pace is 30 seconds quicker than what I have been running! If I miss the update, it may be because I'm dead. But not for now ...
