6 Mile Long Run with Tim

Food & sleep: Lunch Friday was a sandwich with a bag of Fritos. Supper after working out at the gym with Glynis was a mixture of spaghetti noodles with mac n cheese and spaghetti sauce (without meat). Hey, it was pretty good. Then I slept 7 hours and got up and ate a grapefruit and my waffles combo (two waffles, slice of American cheese, peanut butter and syrup). Washed it all down with a bottle of water.

Let me start out by mentioning that it was cold out. And when I say cold, I only mean that it was downright freezing!!!! The temperature at 8:30 was 15 degrees and the wind was out of the east north east at 14 MPH. I think that I ran in similar type conditions last year, but I never started recording weather until March. So I drove to Miami Shores and found the gate was locked and no one was parked there. I drove back to the softball field and parked there next to a small blue car. It was still cold when I got out of the car. I started running down the trail toward the golf course to try to find Tim. Of course, there was no crowd of runners out there to get confused who was who. But I was wearing my orange jacket, and he recognized that.

We ended up running around the neighborhood between Staunton and Market. Apparently Tim grew up in that area. We started up Ohio Street and snaked around here and there. At the first my fingers were totally frozen. I kept trying to hide them in my sleeves or pockets, and I was really wondering just how foolish I was. But eventually they warmed up. As I warmed up, it was really good to run with Tim. He filled me in on where everyone used to live in the neighborhood and where his mom still lives. We ran up the hill that is Saratoga and back around. Eventually we worked our way out to across Market down by Grace Baptist. We started to go out the neighborhood toward the newer houses, but the wind was picking up as we got out of the "older growth" trees. So we turned around and ended up running by the junior high. We turned in front of the city park and caught the bike trail along the levy. It was a really good run. We ran by my car and I stopped there while Tim ran on to his van. We caught up at Tim Horton's and enjoyed coffee and sweets. Not a bad start to the day! Yes, we are quite nuts! Tim's mileage was about right at 17 miles.

Total Mileage (for me) - 6.70 mi; Time - 1:00:23; Pace - 9:01
