This was my second trail race with the ORRRC. It also happened to be my first time to be at Carriage Hill Metropark. It was actually pretty nice. It was really hot. I don't know exactly what the temperature was, but it had to be about 85.
I got there and got registered with about 25 minutes to go before the race started. So I ran to warm up around the green trail. According to the map it is 1.5 miles long. The cool thing was that I basically ran around the park in the opposite direction of the race.
After my warm up, met up with Javon and his friend Jen. At the start we saw the sudden slowdown that Tim told me about. It was kind of wild. The rest of the race went really well for me. I thought it was good. I kept going pretty regular. I didn't keep up with Javon, but I kept going steadily and kept on passing people. I really did feel good about it.
In the end, it actually turned out to be my slowest ever 5K. But as hot as it was, and the way my running had been going lately, I did feel good about it. The hills weren't as bad as at Sugarcreek, but it was still a trail run. Man did we sweat a lot! Yes, it was hot. But it was fun!
Warm up Distance - 1.5 mi; Time - 16:18; Pace - 10:52
Race Distance - 3.1 mi; Time - 27:09; Pace - 8:45
